Starting in the mid-fifties Detroit offered the public many different models trim levels and colors to choose from. Whatever your preference & price point they could find you a build that was the perfect balance and fit just for you. This 1954 Ford Customline fit right in the middle of the line-up and today that definition remains very much the same. On one hand you could call it an older driver-quality restoration on the other a well-maintained survivor. This Ford Customline 2-door post sedan comes with a white painted top over a well-chosen bold blue paint. With the Customline model comes the beautiful and sweeping chrome bumpers a unique chrome grille that wraps across the entire front of the car and that timeless steel spear piece that neatly outlines the rear wheelwell. Although much of the chrome and trim you see today on the car appear original and could probably use some TLC everything is intact. If you're looking for a nice driver that can comfortably cruise to your local show this is a nice no-worries option that's ready to drive and enjoy as-is but also comes with enough opportunity to please even the most earnest fixer-upper types. Going inside the seats were refinished in a blue tweed cloth and vinyl combo with complementary blue carpet. As you can see blue was the theme with this car and today the colors look great and match together very nicely. The seat is comfortable the steering is predictable and the controls are responsive. Like all 1954 Fords it has a handsome dashboard layout with all the dials and readout closely tied together within the stainless dash bezel. A set of auxiliary gauges has been installed underneath the dash to help keep an eye on things under the hood. Power comes from a 289cid Ford V-8 bolted to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Rebuilt several years ago it purrs at idle but creates a strong burble from the glass packs under acceleration. Once you get it out on the road you'll see it runs like a champ. The end result with this '54 is a car that has aged very well remains largely true to original and is hard to resist in any crowd. The heavy lifting is already done here and with some elbow grease this car could be taken to the next level. If you're looking to enter the classic car hobby this one is worth a look.
