The Mercedes-Benz SL (R107) was produced from 1971 through 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the Mercedes, after the G-Class., The 450SL was a 2-seat convertible/roadster with standard soft top and hardtop. It took the chassis components of the mid-size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116)., This Brighton Motorsports Mercedes Benz 450SL has always been in the dry Western states, spending time in NM, and AZ., The Red interior is in fantastic condition, with minimal wear, and the bucket seats are very comfortable. There's also a pair soft sheepskin seatcovers that go with the car. It is still equipped with the original and highly desirable Becker Europa II AM/FM stereo radio. The paint has some areas of wear and minor defects appropriate for the age of the car. It has been very well maintained., Under the hood, you'll find the smooth running 4.5L V8 SOHC V8 engine using the entirely mechanical Bosch D Jetronic fuel injection system. The 4.5L V8 has a compression ratio 8.0:1 - so it's happy with low grade fuel. Interestingly enough - since this design is based on the S-Class sedan, it has a fairly large 23.8 gallon fuel tank, which gives it excellent driving range., Another advantage of the 1977 450SL; its more desirable because the 75 and 76 450SL's suffered from vapor lock and hard re-start because of the underhood position of the catalytic converter. Starting in 1977, the catalytic converter was moved to replace the resonator, located just behind the transmission in the exhaust system. The 1977 450SL also has a manual climate control system, which is far more reliable than the trouble-prone automatic system from 1978 on up - so there are less expensive bits to fail., Overall, this is a very nice running and driving car, incorporating all the excellent design and durability attributes that Mercedes Benz is both known for, and has built its reputation on., Please call or email for more information, or stop by to see the 450SL and arrange a test drive, you won't be disappointed!,, $8,900 obo ,, Advertiser Since 2010
