One of 278 with factory A/C, 2011 NCRS Top Flight award, 37,412 original miles. The world's finest split-window coupe? I wouldn't bet against it., This particular Corvette is extraordinary in a number of ways. We'll get the basics out of the way first, though: it is 100°atching-numbers, has just 37,412 original miles, it is an NCRS Top Flight winner that scored 97.3 n April of 2011 and has all the demerits rectified since, and is one of only 278 1963 Corvettes equipped with factory A/C. To put that in perspective, they built nearly ten times as many fuel-injected models, which routinely sell for six-figures. It has been with its current owner since 1973, and is fully documented and investment-grade throughout., This one also carries virtually every comfort and convenience option available in 1963, including the aforementioned factory air conditioning: A01 Soft Ray glass, all windows, A31 Power windows, C60 Air conditioning, G81 Positraction, J50 Power brakes, L75 327/300 horsepower engine, M35 Powerglide transmission, N40 Power steering, P92 6.70x15 whitewall tires, U69 AM/FM radio, Refinished in its correct code 936 Ermine White, this split-window has received a frame-off restoration that took more than two years and cost nearly $100,000. The goal was to create the finest split-window coupe in the world, and the car today is quietly likely at the very top of the heap in terms of accuracy and condition. Of obvious importance is the condition of the fiberglass body, which is excellent throughout, thanks to its low original mileage and expert craftsmanship. Corvette restoration standards can be highly demanding, and accuracy is often more important than beauty, with the point being that the cars should be as they were built, not as perfect as a restorer can make them., The black vinyl interior is all 100bew, and features all the original equipment, including the power windows and A/C, as well as a rare AM/FM radio which was still somewhat of a novelty in 1963Everything works, including the A/C, which is ice cold and uses R12 refrigerant as original, the power windows, and the radio. The glass is correctly date-coded and shows the right Soft-Ray tint, including the ultra-rare rear windows, which are virtually perfect. Even the clock keeps time, which is a rarity in any old car., 8033 buyers stepped up to the 300-horsepower L75 327 cubic inch V8, including the original owner of this Ermine White coupe. Fully documented and 100 atching numbers, the block, heads, intake, and carburetor are all original to this car, and every single component on it is date-code and production correct. We have restoration photos showing the assembly of the engine and the procedure used to paint it which was identical to how the factory did it, including painting the exhaust manifolds. Today, the manifolds show a few remnants of Chevy Orange paint, but the rest has burned off, leaving a proper finish just the way it would have looked on the showroom floor. Talk about attention to detail! Of course, all the little stuff like hose clamps, decals, and markings have been accurately reproduced. And unlike many trailer queens, this gorgeous Corvette runs perfectly, with easy starting and a wonderful V8 rumble through the reproduction exhaust., The engine is backed by the original, numbers-matching Powerglide transmission, which was an unusual option in 1963. Obviously the first owner was a fan of grand touring rather than blasting around a race track, and the Corvette's dual nature is ideally suited to the task. Out back, there's a stock 3.36 gearset with a Positraction rear end, and the Corvette's first all-independent suspension has been completely detailed. The frame, suspension components, and even the floors have been treated to factory-correct finishes, the brakes are fully rebuilt, and reproduction shocks at all four corners ensure a correct ride. Chevy intended to offer knock-off wheels in 1963, and it appears that this car was originally ordered with them, production issues kept them off the menu in '63 and the car was instead delivered with steel wheels, spinner hubcaps, and BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires, which it wears to this day., Full documentation, receipts, owner's manuals, and other paperwork are included, as well as restoration photos. This car is currently slated to be re-evaluated in October, 2012 for its national Top Flight award, and the details that were found to be incorrect in April 2011 have been rectified., This is a blue-chip collectable and an incredible investment-grade Corvette that stands out in a number of ways. It hits all the right buttons: numbers-matching, loaded with rare options, and NCRS Top-Flight certification. There can't be but a handful of fully optioned split-window coupes in existence, and this is quite likely the finest of its kind. A fantastic addition to even the finest Corvette collection and a worthy investment, even at this price., For more information and photos, please visit our website at .,,, $129,900 negotiable ,, Advertiser Since 2008
