The Rolls Royce Silver Cloud is probably one of the most instantly recognizable classics in the world. The sweeping lines and the iconic radiator shell create a look that has become an almost universal symbol for elegance and class. The Silver Cloud series debuted in 1955, replacing the aging Silver Dawn series with thoroughly modern styling and typical Rolls-Royce over-engineering. First series cars were equipped with a 4.9l inline-six while development was underway on an all new 6.2L V8 - an engine that debuted with the Silver Cloud II and remained in production for decades after. This 1960 model is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition and comes from the collection of a passionate and knowledgeable Rolls Royce enthusiast, active member of the RROC. The V8 fires up instantly and is quiet and silky smooth. Transmission shifts are also exquisite, as should be expected with a Silver Cloud II. Correct bias-ply tires are fitted and are nearly new- a critical item often overlooked on other cars as the bias ply tires provide the correct steering feel and road manners., Inside this lovely Silver Cloud you will find the trim in excellent condition. It has a slight patina which suits the car so very well - almost better than a brand new interior would. It is a comfortable and welcoming place to whisk away the miles. The seats are soft and appear perfectly broken-in, and the carpeting is clean and tidy. The broadcloth headlining is clean and free of damage or stains., The boot trim is all present and tidy. The original tool kit, jack and correct spare tire are included. An added bonus is a custom made picnic table, as part of a car show display., The color combination of Silver over Black is very flattering and understated. The paint is in very good condition and a recent detailing has brought out a deep gloss. While it is not flawless, it is very suited to the usability of this example and very presentable as a well maintained and highly original car., $56,000 negotiable ,, Advertiser Since 2000
