In 1967 the Thunderbird grew up offering four doors for the first time in history. This gorgeous T-Bird offers a classic color combination and the ultra-cool suicide doors that make the Continentals so popular as well as a thundering 428 engine under the massive hood. A big classic car in every sense of the word this lovely Thunderbird sedan delivers impressive performance and that silky luxury ride that feels very upscale. From the front grille and its hidden headlamps designed to emulate a jet intake to the wide tail panel with a single taillight element the car is high style and in great condition. It appears to have just one high-quality repaint in the original Wimbledon White and the dramatic sheetmetal is all original to the car. You can see the Continental influence throughout the car but in particular those suicide-style rear doors which also have a privacy panel that extends the C-pillar giving rear seat occupants a very exclusive ride indeed. Details like the landau bars bumpers and of course the 428 emblems on the front fenders remain in excellent condition. As Ford's high-style car the interior is simply stunning. Raising the bar for personal luxury the black buckets feature fabric inserts and their squared-off seatbacks are significantly different than its predecessors. This particular T-Bird is loaded with virtually every option you could get ranging from A/C to power windows a power driver's seat tilt wheel and that gorgeous center console. Beautiful details like the stainless wood and fabric door panels the cool door latch handles that look like something from a fighter jet and the futuristic steering wheel which holds the buttons for the cruise control all give the driver the impression that he's piloting something special. All the gauges are functional the A/C blows ice cold and the AM/FM stereo works as it should. The wonderfully preserved rear bench is spacious the carpets remain in excellent condition and even the trunk is almost like new with original fabric lining. Performance was still a big part of the Thunderbird equation in 1967 compliments of a giant 428 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor. Rated at a stout 335 horsepower this engine provides the kind of endless torque that makes the car feel like it could accelerate forever and cruises effortlessly and silently at highly illegal speeds. The engine bay shows signs of lots of recent work including a new master cylinder fresh paint and new hoses and there's no doubt that this is an exceptionally well-preserved car. Underneath there's not a trace of rust with the original red oxide primer on the floors still clearly visible. A dual exhaust system provides a muted rumble while power brakes deliver sure confident stops. Fluted wheelcovers over 15-inch wheels are another reminder of the car's Continental sibling and it wears a set of recent whitewall radials. $15,995 ,, Advertiser Since 2008
