The 1949 Ford probably saved the company from bankruptcy and today they remain iconic and popular cars for every kind of hobbyist. This handsome coupe which is an unusual body style all by itself has been given a light once-over to make it highly usable in today's traffic conditions without disturbing the styling that made these cars such a smash hit. When talking about a 1949 Ford the first thing anyone mentions is the grille which is the source of the "Bulletnose" nickname. The bright trim is all in good condition and none of it has been shaved or painted in an attempt to update the look. Speaking of paint the finish is two-stage urethane in Black Cherry an elegant deep sophisticated color that looks exactly right on the Ford's tidy body. As a car that was built to be driven the finish work is very good with good gaps and panel alignment throughout and a great gloss to the paint. Just look at the reflections in the photos! Inside it was all about tradition which means a white vinyl tuck-and-roll bench seat with matching door panels. The combination of white and gray is a subtle color scheme that works extremely well with the Black Cherry bodywork and the craftsmanship is professional grade. The original gauge pods now hold Auto Meter units and there's a trio of auxiliary gauges located underneath. A big Grant GT wood-rimmed banjo-style steering wheel fits the car's character and a B&M shifter is only inches away for convenience. Upgrades include Vintage Air HVAC and a powerful Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo unit with speakers in the doors and rear package shelf. Ford guys will be pleased to see a 302 cubic inch Ford V8 under the hood instead of the ubiquitous small block Chevy and it was rebuilt less than 6000 miles ago. A little flash never hurts and it wears chrome Ford Racing valve covers and a shiny air cleaner on top of the Edelbrock carb but it's obvious this car was built for the road. Everything is tidy professionally installed and fully functional with new components used throughout. Power brakes and power steering make it easy to drive and the 302 has a nice rumble thanks to headers and a dual exhaust system. It appears that the front suspension is mostly stock adapted for use with power steering and disc brakes while the rear end is a GM 10-bolt. Weld Racing Pro-Star wheels wear staggered 205/70/15 front and 215/70/15 rear radials. This car comes with a pile of receipts and is a great way to get into the hobby for not a lot of money. This is a turn-key car that will be a hit at just about any show and it drives extremely well. This car couldn't be duplicated for the money and with everything fully sorted all you need to do is get in turn the key and start having fun. $23,495 ,, Advertiser Since 2008
