NEW PRICE! 1924 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Pall Mall Tourer (443MF). 7.4-liter inline-six cylinder engine, 4-speed manual transmission. Gorgeous gray with black fenders and red leather interior. Fast, reliable, and prestigious; one of the best driving Ghosts available today., In 1906 a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost was entered in the Tourist Trophy Race, one of the most prestigious races of the time. The Ghost emerged victorious - well, much more than that. It had beaten the next nearest competitor by 27 minutes. Next, Rolls and Royce entered a Ghost in a 15,000 mile reliability run in 1907 which it did without incident. Upon its return to the Rolls-Royce shop, it took a small amount of money, about two pounds--or roughly ten dollars by today's exchange rates--to restore the vehicle to new condition., The Silver Ghosts were often entered in the Austrian Alpine Trials where the hoods were sealed shut to prevent any maintenance. The Silver Ghosts again dominated the competition and traversed the Alpine passes which were impassable for many motor cars., This particular Ghost was part of the collection of Mr. John Baird, well known Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiast. Mr. Baird purchased this car in 1970 and it was given a complete, frame-off restoration while under his ownership. In 1973, the car was shipped to Austria where Mr. Baird successfully completed the Alpine Trials with 50 other Silver Ghosts. The rally was held in commemoration of the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials in which Silver Ghosts finished in 1st and 2nd place. This lovely Ghost was actively maintained and toured until Mr. Baird's death several years ago., Since then, it has undergone extensive servicing by Steve Littin of Vintage Auto Rebuilds. Mr. Littin performed a complete diagnostic exam with the following improvements: new correct radiator core, pipes and hoses; repack fan bearings; clean and regap plugs; remove gators; clean, remove and lap valves; new spring keepers, and valve springs; strip engine blocks for repainting; totally rebuild main and starting carburetors; sandblast, clean and repaint manifolds; polish inlet manifold; install new exhaust silencer; and thorough check of engine and mechanics to make sure car is ready to tour., This car successfully completed the 2010 Silver Ghost Tour in Illinois and Missouri, so it is ready to drive and enjoy with nothing needed. It was also invited to the 2010 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. It has a folding/extending rear windscreen, a finished trunk, as well as full tonneau covers. The extremely sporty Pall Mall touring body is a pleasing contrast to the formal, upright bodies of many of this car's contemporaries, and its rakish appearance compliments its spirited performance on the road.,, A beautiful, fast, well-sorted automobile that should give many years of trouble free driving., For more information and photos, please visit ., Inquire ,, Advertiser Since 2008
