This '40 Chevy hot rod is nice blend of vintage car looks and modern conveniences. The owner purchased this car in 2002 - and then the build began! This baby was truly built for comfort! From the Cadillac leather seats to the vintage A/C and heating system - you'll love the way you feel in this car!, PLUS, check this out!!: [ Equipment ]: • 1976 Mustang II rack and pinion power steering, • Power brakes, • Power windows, • Leather, • American Racing chromed aluminum wheels, • Vintage A/C and heating, • Flaming River stainless tilt steering column, • Cadillac leather seating with power controls and tilt, • Power pull down trunk latch, • Alpine AM/FM cassette and CD sound system, • Phoenix Gold Titanium - 500.4 (see trunk notes and pictures), • 400 cubic inch GM block engine, • 670 Holley Street Avenger, • MSD ignition, • 700 R4 T.C.I. transmission, • Banjo style steering wheel, • Classic instruments and gauges, • 100cew Ron Francis wiring, • 1959 Cadillac tail lights frenched in, • Rabbit fiberglass dash, • “Zoops' power steering pump, reservoir, and pully power steering, • EPS performer manifold, • New Walker radiator and condenser, And, according to the previous owner: • Corvair A arms, • 1976 Chevelle resized ball joints and disc brakes,, 2 sets of ignition keys and 2 remotes are included in the sale.,, [ Components ]: o Engine is built with cam shaft gearing. It has a unique noise (sounds like a blower)., o Rear suspension attaches to the original frame with a Chevy rear end (through “chassis systems' fabricated parts)., o Larger size/capacity vintage air conditioning and heating system (Super Gen 2)., o Crank vents with billet aluminum handles, o Upgraded Newport engineering wiper drive, o '57 Chevy rear drum brakes (came with the rear end) with new brake lines, o Chassis system includes a rear sway bar as well as top additional support for the new style shock absorbers.,,, DETAILS OF CAR: [ Paint ] - The paint is very smooth, shiny and seems to match very well all the way around. Looking closely, it seems free of obvious nicks or scratches. Being extremely critical, there are some imperfections in the center of the hood, which can only be seen under intense fluorescent lighting. There are also little imperfections by both hinges on the trunk hinge, and a few spots on the back of the rear fenders. It looks like there is a little bit of orange peel at the top edge of the left fender. Overall, the paint is not “perfect' but it is extremely nice, and most of the imperfections can not be seen in normal light. (see all of the extra pictures),, [ Body ] - Overall, the body is in very nice condition for an original older steel car. It appears very correct, and as you would expect. The fits on the doors, trunk, and hood look like that of a nice restoration. There are a couple of dime-sized dimples on the driver and passenger's new steel running boards (the paint is not broken). We did not notice any serious imperfections in the actual steel body of this Chevy. However, the owner did tell us there is a repair and some filler in the right cowl. See additional up close photos., When the car was restored, the owner decided to use original new/old stock steel front fenders. Those move into new steel running boards that are 2' wider at the back to accommodate the fiber glass fenders (which are also 2' wider than stock to accommodate more tire). The rear fiberglass fenders are coated inside with rubberized coating to minimize possible damage from any large stones., The owner said the bottom of the car had some undercoating remaining, which adhered well to the steel. He left it intact and painted over it.,, [ Chrome/Bright Work ] - The chrome and bright work is just striking, and beautifully done. The chrome and stainless that surround the windows (and window areas) look shiny, with a very nice finish (this even includes the vent windows and thin trim around the windows)., The only imperfections we could detect are 2 pinhead size dimples on the piece between the 2 windshields, and 1-2 dimples on the thin strip around the right rear window. The stainless pieces on the hood, as well as the grill and bumpers are really impeccable. It looks like an almost new car, with very little wear.,, [ Glass ] - The glass on this Chevy looks like that of a new car! We do not see any problems with cracks, chips, marks, or scratches in the glass. It's fantastic.,, [ Interior ] - The interior is just beautifully done, and looks almost new. If you look closely at the photos, you will not see a spot of wear showing anywhere in this whole interior, except for slight, normal wear on the outside edge of the leather seats. The seats are soft (not dried out) and show very little wear. They were obviously leather-treated over the years. They are 2002 Cadillac Deville DTS seats, and are very comfortable! The rear seat was cut down for accommodations, and it is just as impeccable as everything else., In the pictures, you can also see the attention to detail that was put into this classy Chevy interior. The wood, chrome, flames on the doors, and billet aluminum are incredible, but the air conditioning, title steering, and power windows really top it off., When the car was restored, all of the metal inside was coated with Herculiner, which is a truck bed protector and liner. A quarter inch of foam was added, then the carpet was installed on top of that. These measures were taken to keep the car as quiet as possible inside.,, [ Trunk ] - The trunk speaks for itself. You can see in the photos the quality of workmanship (like the gas filler located inside the trunk), etc. Note: the battery was originally mounted behind the rear seat, where it was almost impossible to access. The owner relocated it to the trunk area.,, [ Tires and Wheels ] - The tires are BF Goodrich radial T/As, with high quality, American Racing torque thrust wheels (the chrome plating on the aluminum wheel is pretty much the best of the best). The tires are size P205 - 60 R15 in the front, and P265 - 50 R16 in the rear. They measured about 11/32 of tread left on all 4 tires., The tires and wheels are very neatly done. This way you can see how nice the rotors, brakes, and brake pads look. We do not see any curb damage, cracking, or serious age on the tires or wheels. They do not show any outdoor exposure.,, [ Engine ] - When you look in the engine area, you can see more attention to detail. It is just beautifully done: the chrome hinges, hood latching, support brackets, nice 2 piece stainless on the back fire wall, wiring casing, wire holders, billet, modifications on the engine, electric fan, Chevrolet cap, air cleaner, fuel pressure gauge, and of course, the stainless reservoirs. Everything just says high quality, attention to detail, and that money was spent to do this up right!,, [ Chassis ] - This '40 Chevy has an original style frame with a modification for the TCI 700 R 4 transmission rear support. The owner purchased it new for this car (and a new correct torque converter was installed at the same time). The 3.55 ratio rear end is believed to be a ‘57 Chevy. The owner has not disassembled it, but was told it is a positraction rear end (upon acceleration both rear tires spin). The owner explained that this car was originally built as a street rod in CA in 1969, which explains why the frame was in such good condition - without any rust perforation.,, [ Mechanical ] - Chad tested the following items, and they were working at the time of the listing: • Headlights (low and bright), • Brake lights, • Air conditioning, • Heater, • Power seats, • Front and rear, left and right turn signals, The car drives well, and rides nicely. There is a little vibration in the steering wheel - the owner said the belt needs tightened. He is also going to turn the idle down. The transmission shifts well, and the power brakes stop nicely - no pulsation or pulling.,, Sold
