Price: $69,900.00, Stock #: 10045, Correct LS6 454ci V8, Correct Muncie M21 4 Speed Manual, Fully Functional Cowl Induction Hood Beautiful Detailed Engine & Undercarriage, Exterior Color: Refinished in Original Black Cherry, Interior Color: Saddle Vinyl, Exterior Condition: Very Good, Interior Condition: Very Good,, There are a lot of legendary muscle cars, and they all have impressive stories to tell. But if asked to point to the baddest, most powerful, most impressive machine of all of them, it would probably have to be the LS6 Chevelle. With an advertised 450 horsepower, it was, until recently, the most powerful engine GM ever sold to the public. Today, of course, LS6 Chevelles are treasured and rightly so, with prices that range from merely impressive to heart-attack-inducing., This 1970 Chevelle Convertible LS 6 carries the correct engine block and transmission. Beautifully restored, this convertible is ready to drive and enjoy today with no worries. The body has been straightened and massaged by craftsmen who know how to make these cars better than new, and you can see in the photos how good their work really is. Gaps are superb, and there's nary a ripple or wave anywhere on the body. Refinished in the original code 78 Black Cherry finish, with white SS stripes and a fully functional cowl-induction hood, this is one of the most handsome Chevelles we've featured, even without the added appeal of the 450 horsepower big block under the hood., Of course, all the chrome and trim is as nice as the body and paint, with freshly chromed bumpers, correct badges and emblems, and brightly polished stainless around the windshield and convertible top. Speaking of the top, the white vinyl is new, and fits better than any Chevelle convertible we've seen recently—the usual wrinkles in the C-pillar area are completely absent and it seals up tightly., Inside, the beautiful code 771 saddle vinyl interior is a great compliment to the Black Cherry paint, and a pleasant contrast to the far more commonly used black vinyl. You will definitely appreciate the lighter color with the top down under the summer sun, and it gives the car an elegant, upscale look that belies its muscle car DNA. Seats, carpets, and door panels are new, but the gauges appear to be original, including the tachometer, which was an option even on the top-of-the-line SS454. You'll note that there's an AM/8-track stereo complete with an Earth, Wind, and Fire tape and it sounds like 1970 all over again. The center console adds to that upscale feel I mentioned, and the factory-correct shifter, not an aftermarket piece, manages the 4-speed., The engine is a take-no-prisoners 454, with an 800 CFM Holley four barrel on the correct aluminum manifold, 11.25:1 compression, solid lifters, four-bolt mains, forged steel crank and connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, and deep-groove accessory pullies. No production engine ever had a higher factory horsepower rating, and this one runs like every one of those horses is present and accounted for. Nicely detailed, it features Chevy Orange paint on the block, correct chrome valve covers with proper decals, and the original cowl induction air cleaner assembly. You'll also note items like the large diameter alternator pulley, which was typically found on the solid-lifter engines due to their high-RPM capabilities, and accurate reproduction hoses and clamps. The only major deviation from stock are the long-tube headers that feed a dual exhaust system using Flowmaster mufflers and correct polished tips. The transmission is a Muncie M21 4-speed feeding a durable 12-bolt rear with Positraction. Floors are clean, and the entire chassis has been covered in correct satin black paint, as original. It rolls on a set of gorgeous SS wheels and reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas bias ply tires., It's no surprise that the LS6 is legendary, and planting them in convertibles is perhaps the most amazing part of the story. With enough power to run low-13s in the quarter, these are formidable street machines, and combined with open-air motoring, it's almost intoxicating to drive. This car is beautifully finished with a lot of correct details, including the unusual paint and interior combination, and despite all the clones out there, you just don't see these every day. There aren't many rungs on the muscle car ladder above the LS6, and one drive will convince you that these were truly something special. Call today!, $69,900 obo
