1969 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS, For the 1969 model year, the SS396 series (138xx VIN sequence) was dropped and the Super Sport became a performance option. In 1969 the SS option could be ordered on the 300 Deluxe 2-dr Sport Coupe, the Malibu 2-dr Sport Coupe (13637), as well as the convertible, and the El Camino. The only true codes that truly identified a Chevelle SS in 1969 are the paint code 72- Monaco Orange. The only way to get this paint code was by purchasing the SS Option on a Chevelle. This fact proves the Chevelle offered here is a TRUE SS!! The SS 396 equipment package included a choice of Turbo-Jet 396 V8 with either 325, 350, or 375 horsepower. In addition, the package included these extra features; power disc brakes, 7" wide sport-styled wheels, SS emblems trimmed the exterior front & rear, and inside on the dash and doors, twin-domed hood and beefed up full coil suspension complimenting the look and ride quality! This beautifully restored Chevelle SS396 is finished in Code Correct Monaco Orange with Parchment vinyl interior and matching vinyl roof. Features include Date Code Correct 396Ci Big Block, 5-Speed Manual Transmission, Power Disc Brakes, Bucket Seats, Center Console, SS Trim, 12 Bolt Posi-Traction Rear End, and 15? Styled Steel Wheels with Raised white letter BFGoodrich Tires, Full Size Spare tire and factory Jack, front and rear sway bars, AM/FM Cassette stereo, correct tower clamps in engine compartment, and more. On the performance side of this awesome vehicle are Ceramic Headers, all new exhaust from the headers back, Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley carburetor, new shocks, new front end bushings, new ball joints and various front end parts, new drive shaft and U-Joints, new front and rear springs, new brake rotors, new brake pads, new brake lines, new brake calipers, and the fore mentioned Borg Warner 5- Speed transmission that all working together to provide effortless power and drivability! This Chevelle must be driven to be truly appreciated; thanks to that extra gear in the transmission the car turns low RPM?s while cruising at highway and above speeds, yielding quieter cruising and better fuel mileage. On a personal note, shifting through all 5 gears really confuses other 4-speed owners when getting on the highway, and the look of jealousy on their faces is just fun.
