1950 MERCURY CUSTOM, Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this very cool 1950 Mercury Custom Lead Sled. This big cruiser was finished in 2000 and has been taken care of by 2 meticulous owners since. The car was built by a professional shop in Southern California using only the highest quality components and parts. The craftsmanship is incredible and the modifications are extensive. Starting with the engine, it is a GM 454ci big block crate motor that was ordered just for this car. The amount of chrome in the engine bay is staggering, everything from the reverse-opening hood hinges to the huge 4-barrel carburetor are coated in beautifully done chrome. The exhaust runs through lakes sidepipes and the big block sounds just right, producing a deep rumble that is addictive. The body has been beautifully modified and the overall look really gives this thing a presence that grabs anyones attention. The roof has been chopped, the headlights are frenched, the door handles have been shaved and the bumperless front end has a chrome big tooth grill. The rear end has an interesting design, it incorporates upside down Studebaker taillights ensconced in custom rear end bodywork that extends out and is connected by a rear transom platform. Because of this, the side view is unique and really enhances the long lines of the car. This car drives and rides like a large, modern American luxury car. The stereo is hidden in the glovebox and is powered by Nakamichi amplifiers pumping 6 speakers and a subwoofer. The trunk is power operated, the underside is equipped with purple neon lights all around, and there is a siren in the front grill. The build cost for this high quality Merc Lead Sled exceeded $120k. It is now available with extremely low miles for almost half as much. Please call Jeff with any questions or requests for more information. The team at Brighton Motorsports consists of passionate car enthusiasts that strive to accommodate our customers by providing accurate, honest information about our cars. More importantly, we make the buying experience fun, simple and stress-free. We encourage you to contact us with any questions or requests. We can be reached during normal business hours at 480-483-4682. Our showroom always has a great selection of vintage sports and collector cars available at reasonable prices.
