1978 DATSUN 280Z, Race Modified Custom 280Z Trophy Winning Show Car. Hand signed by Yutaka Katayama, father of the Z cars. This is a rust free original southern California 280Z that was extensively and lovingly restored and modified by the former owner. I purchased the car from him 4 years ago. I spent 3 of those years in New York City while the car was in storage. I recently moved to Austin Texas and have had a royal blast driving this fantastic car! However I will be moving back to New York City early next year, so I have decided to offer for sale what may certainly be the best modified 280Z in the United States. This car won top honors in every competition it entered in southern California. The former owner still has a room full of trophies from his victories showing the car. He kept them to remind himself of all the money and effort he had put into this beautiful machine. Here is a list: Engine Modifications: (Block) L-28 in line six bored out to 3.0. Forged 89mm pistons. Stock rod that has been race prepped. Knifed edge polished and balanced stock crankshaft. ARP main and rod studs. Engine Modifications (Head) Ported and polished full race modifications. Stainless steel valves (46mm intake and 38mm exhaust). Steel valve seats. Hardened inner and outer valve springs. Stock rocker arms. 512 lift, 300 duration performance camshaft. 280 horsepower. EFI System: 29lb fuel injectors. Custom fuel rail. Matched port and polished intake manifold. 70mm throttle body. Turbo air flow meter. Custom air intake. 3" custom exhaust and headers. Drive line Modifications: 16lb flywheel. ACT street clutch. Custom drive shaft. 390 rear end gearing. Quick shift kit. 5 speed transmission. CV axles. Under Carriage: All polyurethane. Custom Paint: Pearl Tangelo by "House of Colors" with hand painted graphic accents. Although this Z has looks to die for it is also built to drive and drive hard. Like the new Skyline this car responds accordingly the more you lay into it. I have not had the time to race it, in fact the car has been extremely pampered it's whole life but you can tell from short Sunday drives that this machine likes life on the edge of the road as well as on the show floor. At the moment I'm feeling just like the former owner, I'm probably making a big mistake offering this jewel for sale. But I will be in NYC, no place for any car, much less a show car like this. For all the Z fans out there I believe you will recognize this car for the prize that it is. For all those who have yet to step into Z heaven I must say that whoever buys this car will have a one of a kind collectors item. I formerly owned a Honda S2000, a Nissan 350Z track edition, and an Infiniti G35 sport coupe. I sold them all and kept this Z! This car has a raw sports car feel that none of the new ones do. This Z really deserves to be seen in person. Once you do you will buy it on the spot just like I did.
