1961 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000, The 3000 was produced from 1959 through 1968. The original engine produced 124 horsepower and was capable of about 114 mph. Modifications to the engine throughout the years increased the horsepower to around 148 and the top speed to 121 mph. The size of the car, the power of the engine, and weighing in at around 2,400 lbs made this car responsive, competitive, and fun to drive. By most observers opinion, it was always a great looking car. Offered today is a fine example of an original and true 3000 BT 7 Roadster. Presented in original bright red with black interior and black top, this car is a testament to the proper preservation of an original automobile having only been cosmetically restored as needed. The interior was done this year and is very attractive showing, black with red piping on the seats. Also completed this year was the exterior trim, again, lovingly done to very nice standards while retaining correctness and originality.A new top and removable side glass with sliding windows is also included The exterior was the subject of a careful body-on restoration completed in 2004.
