1970 DODGE CHALLENGER T/A, In its own right this is a very rare Challenger, it is an original (A91) Western Sport Special Package car, one of less than 375 produced with the 340 V8. Even though it was the only JH23H car born in what can be considered a fairly dreary colour, BL1 Beige with H6T5 Tan interior and a Bumble Bee stripe and is 2 of 2 JH23H cars built that came with a V1G Gator Grain Vinyl Top, the most recent owner who restored the car decided to move away from this original combination and build a car that was not only ferociously quick, extremely tough and good looking but he also made it to be an outstanding car to drive as well. Originally it was built locally in the Los Angeles, CA assembly plant and spent its life in the area. The car is cloned to look like an original TA 340 car. Meticulous detail is evident everywhere, even down to the correct external mirrors and placement of the antenna. Mechanically it is basically new from top to bottom and front to back. Power comes from a new Mopar Performance Magnum 402 rated at what feels like a very conservative 435 horsepower engine. It has a new 700cfm Holley with a Six Pack style air cleaner for the correct visual appearance. An MSD distributor and a 6AL ignition with a rev limiter to keep it all safe when you?re standing on it are fitted. It has a Denso lightweight alternator and bracket fitted. Tube Technologies Ceramic headers send the exhaust out through box mufflers and side pipes looking just like an original TA car. New brake hoses were fitted along with a new Pittman arm and a 1 inch sway bar for the front and a ? inch for the rear. Shocks are KYB gas units. The transmission is a level 3 Mega Viper A518 with a 2,400 rpm stall speed converter going out through a Sure Grip 3:91ratio rear end. It has disc brakes at the front with power assistance along with power steering. A new radiator was fitted along with a new fuel tank. The hood again looks as originals did with the massive hood scoop and is an AAR built unit. It also has a lip spoiler on the trunk lid. Tyres are BF Goodrich 245/60/15?s at the rear and 215/60/15?s for the front. Although it has the antenna fitted no stereo system was installed as with the interior light even though both are pre-wired. Galen Govier did the decoding of this car and it is in his registry. We have the cowl tag although not installed as it does still show remnants of the cars original colour.
