1993 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE, 1993 Bentley Continental ConvertibleVIN SCBZD02D5PCX40506Brewster Green with Tan Leather InteriorThe modern descendent of the legendary Continental and Corniche, this Bentley represents the best and last of the venerable Corniche line. Originally badged as a Bentley Corniche and little different from the Rolls-Royce version, the car was renamed the Continental for 1984, as part of the effort to differentiate the two brands. This helped to contribute to the Bentley renaissance of the 80's that has been so successful. The later models were updated to reflect technological advances, with technologies such as ABS, driver's airbag, and an active ride suspension system to counteract body roll during cornering. Later examples such as this one were also fitted with the Brooklands V8, as well as a fully automatic top requiring no latching and benefiting from a heated glass rear window. There were numerous other details to improve the last cars, such as the color coded bumpers, alloy wheels, and improved electrics. This particular car is a low mileage example that was originally sold in Connecticut. It has been properly stored and cared for so that it remains as a low-mileage like new automobile should be. The paint shows almost no wear or damage at all, just a very small number of chips. The panels fit wonderfully of course and are very straight. The alloy wheels are unmarked, while the chrome and metal trim are free from pitting. The glass and lamps are excellent. The top is in fine condition as well, in addition to being wonderfully engineered and constructed. The original sales literature claims that ten days were required to make each top, and it was designed with the objective of matching the refinement of a coupe when erected. The interior is in similarly nice condition. The leather is in excellent condition, including on the console, dashboard, seats, header rail, and sun visors. There is a bit of shrinkage on the dashboard near the windscreen seal. The wood is on the whole excellent, with just a handful of small blemishes, which are limited to the tops of the door rails and the rear switch panels. The remaining wood is both lustrous and free of deterioration of the varnish. The carpets are excellent and there are lambswool overmats present with the car as well. The car also has a period Motorola car phone. The trunk and engine compartment are both in very clean condition. The trunk is unmarked and the original tools and warning triangle are present, while the engine compartment is dry and quite clean. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a no-excuses late production Continental. With just 421 examples built between 1984 and 1994, and with the later cars so much more developed than the earlier ones, this car is an extremely difficult to repeat find. Coupled with the lovely color combination and low mileage, this car is an excellent chance to enjoy a genuine open four seat tourer, a very
