1940 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL, The Continental represented a radical departure from the standard Lincoln Zephyr and, in fact, from all American cars which preceded it. With styling reminiscent of classic European designs, this car was fitted with the power to match its incredibly elegant and sporty good looks. A silky-smooth V-12 engine coupled to an overdrive 3-speed transmission was built for the car, and that model initiated a Continental line that today, almost 70 years later, still represents the top-of-the-line for The Ford Motor Company. Ours is #42 of the 54 Zephyr Continentals made (largely by hand) and is beautifully finished in deep green with tan leather and original gold-plated interior trim. We found this rare item in the estate of a local collector, sold it locally at that time, and have been fortunate enough to have it returned to us in the same condition evident at the time of last sale.
