1968 SHELBY-AMERICAN GT500KR, Complete Nut and Bolt Rotisserie Restoration in Base Coat Clear Coat bright Yellow. I am very pleased to be able to offer this extremely rare and valuable Shelby Convertible. With only 318 examples built, the 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible is the rarest of all Shelby Mustang road cars. This 1968 KR Convertible is in the super rare Shelby "special order" paint color (Code WT6066), Bright Yellow. This car has been freshly painted with polyurethane basecoast and clear factory correct overspray. It is in superb condition. It has no more than 10 test drive miles since the restoration. If you desire the very best, then please read on. The VIN # is 8T03R211027-03900. Of the 318 GT500 KR convertibles built, according to the Marti Report, only 47 were produced in this rare and special order yellow color and only 13 of the special yellow cars have factory Air Conditioning - this is one of those rare Shelbys. **The Marti Report also confirms the following options: - Black Power Convertible Top W/Glass Backlite- GT Equipment Group- Visibility Group- Power Steering - Power Front Disc Brakes- Tilt-Away Steering Column- Air Conditioning - AM Radio- Interior Decor Group - Tinted Glass- Tachometer and Trip Odometer. The interior of this car is primarily original with the exception of the carpeting which has been replaced. The paint, chrome, glass, trim etc. all in beautiful shape. The car has the original factory overspray and the owner prides himself on "doing it right" without over-doing it. Most true collectors will appreciate his attention to the correct details. While muscle cars come and go and go up and down in value, an investment grade rare Shelby like the one being offered today has proven to be an incredible investment and should continue to be a wise purchase for years to come. The sky is the limit with these rare KR Convertibles. They don't call them "King of the Road" for nothing. According to the automotive press: "For 1968, the 428 engine increased in horsepower by 5 over the prior year. This was the result of a single four-barrel aluminum intake manifold in place of the prior dual-carburetor setup. To honor this achievement, the GT500 equipped with the 428Cj now became known as the GT500, or King of the Road. The documentation stated the engine produced 335 horsepower when actually it was over 400 with 440 foot-pounds of torque. These were the fastest Shelby production vehicles to date and offered superb handling, braking and most of all, acceleration. Due to the extra power, the brakes were enlarged and new components such as under-hood suspension bracing and staggered rear shocks prevented wheel hop and axle wind-up." This KR is optioned with automatic and factory air conditioning and has been signed by Mr. Carroll Shelby himself. Truly unique. Mileage is exempt.
