1955 PLYMOUTH SUBURBAN, 1955 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE SUBURBAN $19,995.00 Actually named Suburban rather than Station Wagon these are a vehicle seldom seen today and the example we have here is an outstanding looking Wagon. The more you look at it the more detail it has. Start with the headliner, it?s some form of moulded plastic material running in one piece the full length of the car. Something we have not seen in any other vehicle and it is superb condition. Then you have incredible tail gate hinges. They look like they were built to hold up a ton of weight. Some of the other cool features are the grille, dashboard, hood ornament, the outside mirrors, the Belvedere fender script and the upholstery colour and material. We know production totaled 18,488 units but how many exist today we don?t, just that it can be very few. When did you last see one? The Suburban appeared in dealer showrooms new on December 22nd, 1954 with the Belvedere being the top of the line model. Power in this car comes from the ultra reliable straight six engine originally rated at 117 horsepower with the gearbox being a 3-speed column shift. It has a heater and an original AM radio in the dash but the sound comes from a glove box fitted AM/FM CD player. The paint is recent but has had a reaction on mostly the top surfaces to the previous paint giving it a strong Orange Peel look. Possibly a reaction with Lacquer over Enamel or something similar. Although it is a really good looking car and it looks good from a distance it will need to be repainted at some point but this is all you will need to do. The interior and everything else about the car is nice. It is finished in a fantastic colour scheme, Pompano Peach with the section through the window area done in a Nutmeg Brown. The interior matches with the same tones and is a mix of Vinyl and Brocade style materials. It?s really great looking. For many more photos got to our web site at: www.carsclassic.com
