Offered for Sale by the California Automobile Museum This 1949 Dodge Wayfarer Business Coupe is no ordinary Business Coupe, with a 425 HP 383 cu. in. Chevrolet engine this coupe means business. This vehicle was built in 2010 by a local Street Rod shop in the Sacramento area called Rods-R-Us. This vehicle was featured on Drive networks youtube channel, search 1949 Dodge Wayfarer on Exterior This Dodge presents very well and makes a strong presence. This Wayfarer has a nice shine to it and the body is straight and solid. The paint does have some checking in a couple of areas and there a couple of small bubbles on the very bottom of the passenger door. The trim throughout the vehicle is in great shape. The grill is straight and has a nice shine to it. The bumpers are straight and solid and have a good shine to them. The windshield has a rock chip on the driver's side but all the rest of the glass is in good condition. The steel wheels are wrapped with wide white wall BF Goodrich Silvertown P215/70R15 in the front and P255/70R15 in the rear all with about 9/32nds of tread on them. The beauty rings and bullet caps are in great shape. Interior The interior of the Business Coupe is very clean and orderly. The cloth fabric is clean and comfortable but it does have a couple of spots where the material is stretched and frayed (pictured). The headliner is in good condition and is clean. The dash and inside trim pieces have been repainted and look very nice. The steering wheel is original and in good condition but it does have some small cracks where the spokes meet the ring. The horn ring is complete and in nice condition. The door panels are clean and also in great shape. The carpets are clean and do not have any wear on them, there are also floor mats in place as well. A custom center console was built to house the aftermarket water temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and volt meter along with the Sony CD Player and 2 cup holders. Alpine speakers have been installed in the kick panels and beneath the rear window. A billet 3rd brake light was also installed in the rear window area for added safety. Vintage Air AC controls are located just above the console under the dash and keep this Coupe cool in the summer. Mechanical This Dodge Coupe is powered by a 383 cu. in. Chevrolet engine with 425 HP backed by a 700R4 Performance Transmission with a lock up clutch. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Dutchman 9 inch Ford rear end with 3.70 gears and Posi traction. Exhaust is routed through block hugger style headers and 2.5 inch mufflers. Billet pulleys and brackets dress up the engine. A walker radiator with an electric fan along with a Walker aluminum water pump help to keep engine temps in check. Lokar products were used throughout the engine compartment as well for dress up and functionality. The Dodge sits on Fatman front suspension with 2 inch swaybar and adjustable coil over springs. Posies rear leaf spring kit hold up the back end. Rack and pinion steering help keep this hot rod driving straight down the road. The factory fuel gauge, odometer and speedometer all work correctly. The factory temp. gauge, amp gauge and clock do not work. Overview This 1949 Dodge Wayfarer street rod is in great overall shape and is in need of a new home. This coupe is a driver and is a fun one with plenty of power to get you where you need to go in a hurry. With the custom suspension this car also handles well. Driving down the road this vehicle has a great sound.
